Swami Vivekananda Indian Revival Movement is a registered NGO based out of Mysore. We derive our inspiration from Swami Vivekananda and look to contribute our bit towards the development of this great nation along the lines of Swami Vivekananda’s ideas/ideals. Our focus area of work has been mostly education, in a couple of villages near Mysuru. With an intent to be more effective and to scale up the activities, a small study room/prayer hall has been built in one of the villages, Chindegowdana Koppalu (About 13Kms from Srirangapattana and 20Kms from Mandya). We are looking to make this village center a model hub of educational/cultural/social activities specifically focused on the children and youth but also beneficial to the other populace of the village in general.

So as to effectively co-ordinate and scale up these activities we have opened up a position for internship for a duration of one year. We are looking for a youngster who is passionate about such a role and is ready to stay in the village for the next one year and work on starting/regularizing a set of activities at the village center in Chindegowdana Koppalu.

A remuneration of Rs.15,000/- per month and additionally an allowance of Rs.5,000/- per month will be paid to the intern for the next one year.

Mandatory Requirements/Skillset:
1) This is a full time position and to ensure that the activities are effective and to have better rapport with the people in the village we would want the person to stay in the village during the entire duration of the internship. The organization will help with finding suitable accommodation in the village.

2) Fluency in Kannada and English is mandatory. One of our primary goals during the next one year is to strengthen the writing and more importantly the speaking skills of the children who come to the center. Hence a good command over Kannada and English is one of the skill sets that we are looking for.

Interested people can send in their resumes or queries, if any, to:  info@svirm.org.in

Prior experience in the social sector or teaching is not mandatory. Our preference is for someone who had the passion for the role and who is willing to go the extra mile towards developing a village center which will be beneficial to the people around at large.

Activities to be taken up

The daily/regular activities of the intern will revolve around the below:
[a]: Language fluency and computer awareness sessions for people across age groups.
[b]: General Math/Science sessions for children so as to just give them a foundation in the general concepts and to kindle their interest in these subjects. This will not follow any specific academic syllabus. It is left to the intern to decide on the topics and the methodology (which might include video sessions/games/activity based sessions etc) along with inputs from other SVIRM volunteers. These sessions will be during non-school hours.
[c]: On a need basis helping students with specific syllabus related academic queries that they might have. This will not be a full fledged syllabus coverage, rather just specific intervention when needed to unblock a student individually and enabling him/her to progress further.
[d]: Classical Music/Art classes are planned to be introduced in the community center for children by hiring teachers who can visit the center on specific days. The intern will be responsible for ensuring that these classes happen regularly and also follow up with the teacher wrt the progress of the students.
[e]: Coordinating with a few government schools around for specific awareness activities at schools during school hours. The specifics of this activity will be communicated during the face to face discussion.

The regular/daily activities apart, SVIRM will be conducting awareness sessions in the village and nearby schools related to Medical/Agriculture/Job/Education etc with the help of other resource people. The intern will be helping with co-ordinating these activities along with other volunteers.
